Dota 2 to Deadlock - Item Icons & Effects

Dota 2 item icons and effects for Deadlock. The icons are picked by what an item does: lifesteal, armor reduction, barriers and other mechanics. Some combine several Dota images; upgrades have gold or red variants.

V19 has 154 mapped item definitions and keeps 19 native icons. The pack includes Counterspell, Refresher, Shiva’s Guard for Cold Front, Arctic Blast/Frostbite and Pavise barriers. Barrier appearance, hit and break effects also apply to hero abilities. More Dota effects are planned. V19 replaces the second Shiva icon on Mystic Slow with Lich’s Frost Blast, keeping its original colors. The other icons and all four effect components are unchanged.

Install with a mod manager

The file below has one-click install buttons for Deadlock Mod Manager, Grimoire Mod Manager and HELLCAT. Disable the previous version, install the new ZIP and enable all five components. Hero skins and voices are separate mods.

Manual installation

1. Close Deadlock and your mod manager. Back up game/citadel/gameinfo.gi and this mod’s previous files.
2. In Steam: Deadlock → Properties → Installed Files → Browse. Open game/citadel.
3. Copy the five VPK files from the archive to game/citadel/addons. Do not overwrite files belonging to another mod.
4. In gameinfo.gi, find FileSystem → SearchPaths. Put Game citadel/addons above Game citadel. Keep the other game/language paths and the four entries below.

To update, remove only this pack’s previous files first. To uninstall, remove its five VPKs after checking SHA256SUMS.txt. Keep other files in addons.

Compatibility

Based on the October 21 game resources. Game updates can break replacements or reset addon loading. The optional Python installer on GitHub checks the native ability file; manual copying and mod managers do not run that check. The new shop screenshots show V19, including Mystic Slow. The supplied gameplay footage shows the combined local setup; it is not a full standalone compatibility test. Some shared HUD textures stay native to avoid replacing hero icons.

Original assets by Valve. Composite icons use the original artwork; the black Sharpshooter variant was made from Dragon Lance with image generation. The gallery has fresh shop and effect screenshots supplied by the mod’s owner. Report bugs with the item/effect, game build, other mods and a screenshot or short clip.
