Sinclair Copied-Ult Tell

An old phonograph sound plays when Sinclair casts a stolen ult, so you can tell it's a copy and not the real hero.

What it changes

When Sinclair fires a copied ult, you hear a bell with a few fading echoes, wobbly pitch and vinyl crackle. It's the same length and about the same loudness as the stock sound. You hear it for allied and enemy Sinclairs. The stolen ult's own effects are unchanged.

Downloads (pick one)

• Plain (recommended): just the cast sound.
• With loop: also adds a warbly bell drone while Sinclair is holding a stolen ult, before he casts it.

Install

Mod Manager: add the zip and enable it (installing alone doesn't enable it).

Manual: close Deadlock, take pak01_dir.vpk out of the zip, rename it to pak53_dir.vpk (any free number works) and drop it in Deadlock\game\citadel\addons.

Heads up

• Conflicts with other Sinclair sound swaps that replace the same sounds.
• The cue plays once at the start of the stolen ult (about 4 s). Longer ults keep going after it ends.
• Client-side only.

Credits

Made by WongBater. Both sounds are synthesised from scratch, no samples and no Valve audio. Idea from the r/DeadlockTheGame thread "Sinclair needs to give better feedback to teammates when he ults". Deadlock belongs to Valve.
