BoxRun: make and share speedrun routes

Make your own speedrun routes in Deadlock, share them as a short code, and race each other's ghosts. Box runs, movement challenges, rotations, whatever you come up with.

Known issue: on the first race after a ghost loads, its Shoulder Charge can come about a tenth of a second late (racing again is on time). Holliday's jump pad, Vindicta, Mirage and Lash are next to check. If you see a ghost miss an ability, tell me the route and hero in the Discord!

What you can do

• Make a route in game: walk to each spot and place a checkpoint, then test it and set the times to beat (Eternus, Oracle, Initiate).
• Mark boxes that have to be broken, add notes, split it into legs, or run it with the Soul Urn.
• Run it against the clock. Every checkpoint shows your split, and the finish card shows your tier.
• Race a ghost: the route's maker, or your own best, replayed as the real hero.
• Share it with one short code, and anyone can paste it in and race your ghost.
• Comes with sample routes: guided ones with a checkpoint at each turn, and open ones with marked boxes to break in any order. Plus two movement challenges.

Why I made it I'm learning Deadlock, and box runs were hard to learn from videos. I learn better hands-on, and some of my friends are learning too, so I made a way to build routes in game and share them.

Is it safe?

• It's one map file you load on your own. Normal matches never load it, and it doesn't change anything in them.
• No DLLs, no injection, nothing running outside the game.
• Your routes and times are saved on your PC, through a small BoxRun page in the game's own browser. Nothing leaves your PC unless you press SHARE, which publishes that route and its ghost so others can load it by code.
• It uses the game's own Midtown, so it's a small download.

Install

• With Grimoire (or another mod manager): install it from this page, start Deadlock with "Launch Modded", open the console (F7) and type map boxrun_midtown.
• By hand: see "BoxRun - how to install.txt" in the download.
• Optional, no console needed: also install MapList, after BoxRun (MapList hides maps installed after it). Then press Esc in the hideout: BoxRun is under CUSTOM MAPS, at the bottom of the friends column on the right. Click it to load.
• Give it up to a minute after you spawn in: the mod loads and the BoxRun menu appears in front of you. It can take longer on some PCs, so wait for the menu.
• If you close the menu, press 0 to bring it back (with hotkeys on: BoxRun asks at your first start, and HELP > HOTKEYS turns them on later), or type boxrun in the console. Both bring the menu in front of you.
• The console needs to be on: Settings > Options > Enable Console.
• After a Deadlock update, Grimoire may ask you to press Fix again. That's true for every Deadlock mod.
