Turns down a handful of the loudest hero sounds so you can keep your volume up for heavy melee wind-ups without your ears getting wrecked.

What it changes

Ten sounds, each turned down 4 to 6 dB:

• Seven: Power Surge, Storm Cloud (both loops) and Static Charge
• McGinnis: mini-turret fire
• Paradox: Kinetic Carbine charge and shot
• Dynamo: the Singularity loop (not the cast)
• Lady Geist: Life Drain
• Mina: Love Bites hit sound. Still there so you know you're being hit, just not as loud.

I picked these from player complaints ("Any time Mina hits me it sounds like I am being run over by a truck") and from checking which hero sounds are set the loudest. Melee, ult casts and every other hero are untouched. Nothing gets louder.

The mod has no audio in it, it only changes the volume settings.

Install

Mod Manager: add the zip and enable it (installing alone doesn't enable it).

Manual: close Deadlock, take pak01_dir.vpk out of the zip, rename it to pak83_dir.vpk (any free number works) and drop it in Deadlock\game\citadel\addons.

Heads up

• Conflicts with other mods that change the sound scripts for Seven, McGinnis, Paradox, Dynamo, Lady Geist or Mina. Mods that only swap sound files are fine.
• If Valve changes those heroes' sounds in an update, this holds the old settings until I update it.
• 4 to 6 dB might be too much or too little for you. Feedback welcome.
• Client-side only.
